Superman Lives in Iowa

I just read an incredibly inspiring Des Moines Register article about my best friend John Craun's dad, also named John Craun. The man is 63 and, even though he only discovered the sport ten or twelve years ago, has literally become one of the world's best endurance kayakers, as well as possibly the world's finest custom kayak-maker.

Besides the incredible fact that John has become a world-class elite athlete...in his 60s, mind you, it's also inspiring that he's following a passion and making his dream a reality. I've never seen anyone so happy in his work as I have John Craun, Sr.

Now that we know it's possible, what excuses do we have? He's blazing a trail for all of us.

Note 2/16/17: At some point, the Register changed their links and/or made them unavailable for non-subscribers. Instead, here's a link to a different article about Craun and his kayaking adventures.
